Heads up (May 2026): The old socialimpact.youtube.com site
now 302-redirects to YouTube's generic "How YouTube Works" page.
The standalone Social Impact hub appears to have been retired.
If you came here looking for nonprofit tools, the live program is
the YouTube Nonprofit Program, run through Google for
Nonprofits. Verified 2026-05-17.

What this was

YouTube Social Impact was YouTube's umbrella page for grants,
creator partnerships, and nonprofit features. The page is gone, but
the nonprofit offering moved (not ended) and now lives inside
Google for Nonprofits.

Where to actually go now

  • YouTube Nonprofit Program (active offering): apply through
    • your nonprofit is verified by TechSoup and enrolled in Google for
Nonprofits, you can activate the YouTube Nonprofit Program from
      the products list.
  • What you get (per Google's current Nonprofit Program page):
    • links from your videos to your donate page, a "Donate" button on
your channel, and access to YouTube's nonprofit support docs.
  • The old "$X million in grants" announcements from Social Impact
    • were one-off campaigns (e.g. Black Voices Fund, Creators for
Impact). Those rounds are closed; YouTube has not published a
successor open-call grant program as of May 2026.

Who this is useful for

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofits that already have (or can get) Google
    • for Nonprofits eligibility through TechSoup validation.
  • Nonprofits already running a YouTube channel who want a
    • Donate button and verified-org features.

Who should skip it

  • Individuals, for-profit social enterprises, and fiscally
    • sponsored projects without their own 501(c)(3) — they're not
eligible for Google for Nonprofits, which is the gate.
  • Anyone hunting an open YouTube grant application. There isn't a
    • current public one; cohort programs are invite-only.

What to do

  1. Confirm 501(c)(3) status and get a TechSoup validation token.
  1. Apply at google.com/nonprofits.
  1. After approval, activate the YouTube Nonprofit Program from the
    1. Google for Nonprofits dashboard.
  1. Set up your Donate button and verified channel features through
    1. the YouTube Nonprofit Program help center.
