What Hospitality House is
Hospitality House runs Utah's Place — Nevada County's only year-round emergency shelter for the general homeless population. It's a calm, sober place to sleep, eat, shower, do laundry, and meet with a case manager who can help you find permanent housing. They also operate a street outreach team that visits encampments and connects people to services.
The organization has grown into a full pathway: street outreach → emergency shelter → interim housing → permanent affordable housing. As of early 2026, Hospitality House operates seven locations and 148 housing units in addition to the emergency shelter.
Who can stay at Utah's Place
- Single adults (men and women) and families with children — there is a private family room
- People who have lived in Western Nevada County for 45 days or more
- Approved pets are welcome (ask about their pet policy when you call)
- Photo ID is not required
- You must agree to a Mutual Respect Agreement and sign up for chores during your stay
There are up to 69 beds. Intake is daily, based on availability — calling ahead helps but is not required.
