Retailer Take Back
If you are having your mattress delivered, California law requires your retailer to offer to take back your old mattress at no additional cost. A few things to know:
- Delivery or set up fees for the products being delivered may still apply.
- The retailer has up to 30 days to take back your old mattress.
- The retailer may refuse to pick up the old mattress if it poses a health or safety risk.

Curbside Pick Up
Some local governments may provide a free bulky item pickup. Find out if you live in an area with this benefit. Those that recycle mattresses with MRC’s Bye Bye Mattress are noted.

If you have at least 100 mattresses, you can arrange for a pickup with our Commercial Volume Program.
For retailers that are accumulating at least 100 mattresses monthly, we can provide a collection container with scheduled, recurring pickups.
